The Pacific coast of Central America has long been known for its excellent pelagic fishing and Puerto Escondido is no exception. Closer than Guatemala, Costa Rica, or Panama, you will have the opportunity to fish for marlin, sailfish, dorado, and tuna while here with sailfish and dorado being most prevalent January- March.
The fishing itself is designed to be enjoyed by fishermen of all levels and will be designed to your preference. Never touched a rod before? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Long time fly fisherman with a bucket list? Well we’ve got you covered too! Our captains are both professional and knowledgeable. Having grown up on these waters they will help put you on the fish in the manner that suits you best. This is trophy sport fishing. The fish are big, nasty, and will definitely spike your adrenaline regardless of your level of experience! Catch and release will be practiced on all billfish whenever possible.
Where is Puerto Escondido, Mexico?
Puerto Escondido is the new destination that’s replacing the tourism that was in Riviera Maya, in Cancun, Tulum. A lot of people are migrating from those areas that are already saturated with tourism and they’re searching for new kinds of spaces. In short, after seeing an increase in tourism during the pandemic, Puerto Escondido has exploded and its popularity continues rising. It is the most popular tourist destination in Oaxaca and is both safe and convenient to travel to. The airport expansion is underway. Runways are being expanded for larger aircrafts and international flights with direct flights now operating from the United States. A three million passenger capacity is predicted, and to support continued growth, roads have been modernised and the airport, upgraded. The renewal of the highway system linking many beaches along the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, and the restoration of the international airport have directly contributed to the growth of the destination and improved the experience of thousands of travellers.
The destination is already attracting 800,000 tourists per year and this is only projected to grow.

All fishing packages are 7 nights and designed to be travel friendly, based around the weekly direct flight from Houston. You will arrive in Puerto Escondido on Saturday afternoon and depart the following Saturday. Aqua Azul is one of the few lodges anywhere in the world offering both direct flights from the United States and a high quality winter fishery! Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport and transported about 5 minutes to our lodge. You’ll be greeted there with cocktails and hor dourves and shown your poolside rooms. Agua Azul is small, exclusive experience, serving only 4 guest per week. Your dining experiences are gourmet quality with a nod to seafood and the local Mexican culture.
